Vacancies: Senior Public Affairs Officer /Public Affairs Officer, Computer Programmers

 

The West Africa Examinations Council, a sub-regional organization responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in the English-speaking West African countries, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions in its Nigeria National Office and the Lagos Department of its Headquarters Research Division.

 

Position: Senior Public Affairs Officer /Public Affairs Officer

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication (at least Second Class Lower Division), from a recognised University with at least three years experience in the Public Affairs Department of a reputable organisation or in the editorial or reportorial department of a reputable media outfit.
  • Possession of a higher degree and membership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) will be an added advantage.
  • Applicants who have not majored in Mass Communication but who possess graduate diplomas in Mass Communication are also eligible.

 

  • Applicants for the post of Senior Public Affairs Officer must have a minimum of six years post qualification experience.

 

 

 

Position: Computer Programmers

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants should possess a minimum of B.Sc (Hons) degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) in Computer Science, or equivalent from a recognised University with at least three years experience.
  • Applicants should have functional knowledge of at least three of the following languages: Visual Basic (Visual Studio.Net) Visual Foxpro, COBOL, C++, JAVA. Applicants should also be familiar with the following operating systems: MS-DOS, Windows 2008 Server (and beyond), OS/400, and Open VMS. Knowledge of the following applications will be an added advantage.
  • Data Base Management – SQL Server 2005 (and beyond) and Oracle
  • Network Management – Network and Web Design.

 

 

Applicants for all positions must:

  • be able to use personal computers, office software packages and have knowledge of web-based systems
  • be self motivated and able to write good reports; analyse and review research reports; be able to work extra hours with little or no supervision
  • be team players with good inter-personal skills; be open and able to lead change
  • possess influencing skills
  • be organized/planners with ability to be flexible and
  • finishers with ability to successfully implement ideas
  • possess analytical and communication skills

 

 

Note: Applicants for all positions must  (in addition to their degrees and professional qualifications), possess five credits including English Language and Mathematics at a sitting in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE “O” Level or  six credits including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE  “O”  Level. Applicants should  not be more than 35 years of age as at the close of application except those for the positions of Senior Purchasing/ procurement Officer and Senior Public Affairs Officer who should not be more than 40 years.
