Position: State Community Development Officer (CDO)
Overall Function of the Position
- The community development officer (CDO) will be responsible for overseeing activities under the capacity building component of the project.
- He or she will coordinate activities concerning special mobilization, participatory appraisal training, and civil society involvement in the project, and help ensure that women are full participants in project processes and outputs.
Specific Duties of the Position
- Curriculum development for social mobilization and sensitization on Community Driven Development for Local Government and Community Level training.
- Supervision of Local Government activities in Community Driven Development and quality control
- Provide implementation assistance as necessary.
- Responsible for consolidating reports on capacity building component for the State Project Coordinator and the State Fadama Technical Committee; and
- Ensure overall participation of women in the project and take corrective action in areas where this is not the case.
Reporting and Location
This position will be based in the State Fadama Development Office, but will involved frequent travel to participating LGAs and communities. The CDO will report directly to the State Fadama Project Coordinator.
Qualifications Required:
- Master’s level or higher degree in Agriculture, Rural Sociology, Anthropology, Rural Development, or other relevant degree.
- Minimum of 12 years in Community or Local Development, including direct field experience in social mobilization.
- Substantial experience in working with women, vulnerable, and marginalized groups.
- Proven track record in managing and leading mixed gender teams.
- Good writing skills; and
- Computer literate.
Terms of Appointment:
Two years contract, remuneration shall be inform of payment of modest allowance.
