The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Maiduguri office is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy below.

Position: Medical Field Officer

Main tasks:

• Planning organization and participation in field trips mainly in Borno state, but occasionally to other northern Nigeria regions such as Plateau State and Bauchi.
• Assist in assessment of health structures, clinics, hospitals in the Northern region including primary health care and surgical services
• Developing contacts and maintaining networks with health authorities, agencies and communities in the region
• Participation in health and other meetings as requested
• Monitoring and updating the HoO on any security issues in the region
• Management of medical logistics with stock keeping, turnover and distribution to the field
• Participation   in  deployment  of surgical  team  ex Abuja  as  a facilitator  for accommodation, transportation, security and access
• Assisting with primary health care and first aid activities as required
• Collecting statistical data required for the program and participating in written reports

Required Qualification:

• University degree in Medical Field (Medical Doctor /Registered Nurse)
• Good working knowledge of 2-3 years working experience within the medical structures of Northern Nigeria
• Excellent command of English, good command of Hausa language (Kanuri an advantage)
• Very good reporting and communication skills (written and spoken) «     Good interpersonal skills and ability to develop a network of contacts.
• Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel & Power point)
• Ability to travel extensively within Northern Nigeria and work independently as required
• Familiar in Northern Nigeria geographical areas and cultural context
• With driving experience and valid driver’s license
