The Nigerian Tourism and Hospitality
A State Government in Nigeria recently partnered with the Mantis Collection Group to manage a Cold and Warm Springs Resort. This is a landmark that leverages the unique position the State in the tourism and hospitality industry and enables a diversified economic base. The Resort project is envisioned to deliver a 3 and 5-star hotel environment complete with conferencing facilities, a heliport, golf course and business resort, and is located around a famous Warm Spring in the South-Western part of Nigeria.
As part of its start-up initiatives the State Government intends to recruit competent and suitably qualified professionals to fill various positions in the Warm Springs Resort.
Position: HOD (Housekeeping & Laundry) – WSR0007
Reporting to the Rooms Manager, the ideal candidate will:
- Champion the day-to-day, Housekeeping Division.
- He/she will also implement the set standards and training plan for housekeepers and all cleaners.
Specifically, the candidate will:
- Oversee the provision of support to the receipt and delivery of orders
- Coordinate dispatch and division shifts for all 3 and 5-star venues
- Conduct room checks and give daily/weekly reports
Qualifications, skills and experience
- A good first degree in any discipline from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of six (6) years’ relevant experience in a similar role in a hotel or resort.
- Demonstrable ability to coordinate and monitor the activities of junior staff
- In-depth knowledge of Quality Control management in 3 and 5-star venues.
- Excellent knowledge of housekeeping/laundry processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with global trends and best practices in housekeeping operations.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Position: HOD (Food & Beverages) -WSR0008
Reporting to the F & B Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Stock ordering, stock control, stock collection, etc.
- He will also handle shin schedules and coordinate F & B staff.
Specifically, the candidate will:
- Handle events and conferences in collaboration with HOD, Reception; Operations / F & B Managers
- Monitor suppliers, pricing and logistics
Qualifications, skills and experience
- A good first degree preferably in Catering, Home Economics or any related discipline from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of six (6) years’ relevant experience in the Food & Beverages division within the hospitality industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collect information and generate schedules.
- Experience in conducting market research.
- Ability to deal effectively with departmental staff.
Position: HOD (Grounds) -WSR0009
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- The proper maintenance of the Resort’s grounds and general layout.
- His oversight functions will cover cleaning, gardening, mowing, etc,
- He will create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.
Specifically, the candidate will:
- Ensure that all grounds staff perform their duties efficiently
- Take custody of all grounds equipment and ensure the proper maintenance of same
- Coordinate the training and re-training of Grounds staff
Qualifications, skills and experience
- A good first degree in any discipline from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of six (6) years’ relevant experience in a similar function.
- Strong creative and multi-tasking abilities.
- Good knowledge of aesthetics, gardening, agriculture and horticulture.
- Proven ability to give directions to subordinates.
Position: HOD (Maintenance) -WSR0010
Reporting to the Operations Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Coordinating the provision of general service maintenance to all facilities within the Resort. These are not limited to Electrical Plumbing, Roofing, Tiling, Decking, Carpentry, Pipelines and Mechanical works.
- The candidate will be responsible for facilitating the resolution of maintenance issues as they occur.
Specifically, he will:
- Analyze, plan for and anticipate potential issues
- Create prompt solutions to any problems encountered with facilities
- Use innovation to fix a fault or malfunction and manage the constraints of cost, time and client
- Develop good working relationship with third-party agents
- Draw up and manage budget for facility repairs, overhauling, renovations, etc.
- Carry out emergency drills, check for quality and deal with clients’ concerns
- Manage workshop / maintenance area/equipment/controls and handle operating machinery checks
Qualifications, skills and experience
- A good first degree in any Engineering discipline from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of six (6) years’ hands-on experience in a similar role in the hospitality industry
- Knowledge of problem-solving techniques and Proficiency in a wide range of troubleshooting methods.
- Knowledge of basic work tools and technical plans, maps, blueprints, drawings and models.
- Good understanding of regulatory and HSE requirements.
- Demonstrable ability to delegate and multi-task.
