Chief Information Officer at a Christian Private University

Our client, a Christian private university based in the South-South, has personnel, who will provide technology vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the university-wide Information Technology (IT) program.

 

Position:     Chief Information Officer (CIO)

 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the university as a member of the senior management team.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the university.
  • Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating processes and procedures.
  • Ensure that resources are used effectively and, if necessary redirected, to meet the
  • University’s key priorities and that there is transparency of costs for all information services across the University.
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Approve, prioritize, and control projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems.
  • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.
  • Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations.
  • Provide strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the information and technology systems for the university network.
  • Responsible for the management of multiple information and communications systems and projects, including voice, data, imaging, and office automation.
  • Develops and implements user-training programs.
  • Develop an IT strategy that sets out the strategic direction for the University as a whole, encompassing the IT goals for both the Colleges and the Support Groups.

 

Requirements:

  • A university degree in the field of Computer Science/information Technology.
  • A higher degree would be an added advantage.
  • Six years working experience managing and /or directing an IT operation. Excellent understanding of project management Principles.
  • Excellent written, oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.

 

Desirables:

Financial Knowledge (versatile in Sage Accounting, Peachtree), Extensive knowledge of IT technologies (Linux & windowsserver OS programming, Database design & administration, cloud computing).
