A Pioneering African Telecommunications Company, requires the services of experienced professionals to fill vacancies in our expanding operations. Experience of Data, IP and Broadband solutions is essential in addition to a background of working with Mobile Operators, Telcos and ISPs. Position: NOC Engineer

 

REF: NOCG1

 

Qualification

  • University graduate in Engineering. Electronics, Telecommunication or Computer Science from a reputed Engineering Institute.
  • Ideal candidate will possess Certifications equivalent to Cisco Certified Internetwork equivalent to Cisco Certified Internetwork  Professional (CCIP).
  • Good communicator with a natural aptitude for dealing with people.
  • Good network diagnostic skills and ability to assess and prioritize faults.
  • Excellent understanding of SDH, PDH and IP/MPLS systems as well as Ethernet and IP networks including troubleshooting techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of network monitoring concepts and management tools.

 

Experience

  • 7-10 years of post graduation work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in a mission-critical 7x24X365 NOC telco environment
  • Experience of network monitoring tools and protocols (PRTG, NAGIOS, ORION).
  • Experience troubleshooting skills and firm understanding of static, OSPF and BGP routing.
  • Experience with Alcatel – Lucent (1353NM, 1354RM)  and Huawei (U200) Network Management Systems would be an advantage

 

Responsibilities

  • Resolution of all levels of NOC trouble ticket calls across the GLO1 international cable network and the Nigerian domestic Ethernet and IP network.
  • Customer notification of network maintenance and service affecting events.
  • Creation & documentation of formal troubleshooting and service activation processes.
  • Generate reports of network events, customer outages, and response times for management performance reviews.
  • Document and diagnose underlying network architecture issues for submission to Engineering for problem resolution process.
  • Provide feedback to engineering on improvements necessary for NMS, OSS to better support service delivery.

 

Position: IP Engineer

 

REF: IPG1

 

Qualification

  • University graduate in engineering, Electronics, Telecommunication or Computer Science from a reputed Engineering Institute.
  • Network certification such as CCNA and CCIE
  • Knowledge of OSI model with emphasis on Layers 2 and 3
  • Knowledge of service provider IP architectures.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies – TCP/IP, BGP. ONS, VPNs, Firewalls. proxy etc.
  • Knowledge of network capture and analysis tools, with the ability to analyze protocol and application behaviors.
  • Knowledge of IP address management including process to obtain addresses and provide reporting to AFRINIC.
  • Knowledge of Visio with ability to create complex network diagrams.

 

 

Experience

  • 7-10 /ears post graduate work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in an IP network engineering environment
  • Experience integrating network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, security appliances and terminal servers.
  • Experience with Alcatel Lucent 7750 and 7710 Routers, Huawei NE40 XB would be an advantage.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Planning and optimization of existing IP network setup.
  • Monitoring, tuning, dimensioning and forecasting expansions of IP network or its components (including international/national peering platforms and caching/filtering/load-balancing platforms based on traffic growth trends. Troubleshooting IP network related issues and deploying corrective measures. Creating and maintaining of technical documentation and diagrams for IP network.
  • Planning, deployment and optimization of IP based services within existing IPMPLS network as well as Suture IP based services.
  • Deploying network control solutions, planning hardware and software upgrades in cooperation with vendor Engineers in identifying and resolving complex hardware and software problems, and performing migrations of equipment/interfaces.
  • Plan system monitoring mechanisms that rapidly detect and block any security intrusion and service assaults.
