In line with its corporate philosophy of providing quality legal services at the highest level of professional competence and confidentiality, the Company is seeking to recruit a focused, energetic, result-oriented and suitably qualified professional to join the team of Lawyers within the Corporate and Commercial Department of the Firm as a Senior Associate,
Position: Lawyer
The successful candidate, will amongst others:
- Execute transactions within the department with minimal supervision
- Draft, and review corporate contracts and other business agreements, highlighting potential risks and ensuring adherence to rules and regulations
- Ensure compliance with the statutory regulations, applicable legislation, agreements and legal issues affecting clients operations
- Represent clients on various business transactions, including telecommunications, property; energy, insurance, and finance
- Analyze legal implications of clients’ transactions with third party contractors and other stakeholders
- Liaise with appropriate regulatory authorities on behalf of the company and its clients on legal matters
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
- LLB from a reputable university. Possession of higher degrees will be an added advantage.
- Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association or its equivalent is essential
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ post call experience with a greater part of it in the commercial department of a top tier law firm
- Knowledge of commercial transactions, practice, regulations and laws
- Good transactional experience and ability to handle a wide range of company/regulatory issues.
- Experience in mergers and acquisition, capital market transactions, securities documentation (bank loans, debentures, etc), telecommunications, and oil and gas industry
- Ability to proactively identify local and global matters and develop documents to meet clients’ needs
- Proven record in commercial legal affairs coupled with demonstrable experience of managing an in house legal team
- Excellent leadership, management and interpersonal skills, as well as, the ability to work with people of diverse background and interests.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and business relationship building skills
- Excellent analytical, research, negotiation and organizing skills
- Proficiency in the use of computer application packages
- High level of integrity
