Company Profile

Our client, a Leading National Conglomerate operat­ing in various sectors of the economy, has recently embarked on several expansion projects across its focus sectors including investments in new fron­tiers. In line with its growth and transformation the client is also investing in repositioning and restructuring its operations, with the goal of creating an enduring business with appropriate structures and synergies. As part of this effort the Company now seeks to recruit self-driven, experi­enced and motivated individuals to fill select posi­tions within its flour business.

 

The flour business operates plants in multiple locations across the country and expects to more than double its existing capacity from ongoing expan­sion of existing plants and Greenfield protects. As a result the client seeks to fill the following key positions:

Position: Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD-FL001)

 

Reporting to the Group’s Board, the successful can­didate will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight, and will have overall accountability for the Company’s flour operations across the coun­try. A major focus will be to champion the articula­tion, review and implementation of the Company’s corporate strategy, goals and objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall strategic leadership, direction and guidance for the operations and activities of all functions and departments within the Company.
  • Drive the development of annual operating plans and budgets that support the Company’s strategic plan and overall business aspirations and obtain Board approval.
  • Ensure the articulation and implementation of effective sales, business development and cus­tomer management strategies and programmes to maximize the revenue generating capacity of the Company.
  • Develop and monitor strategies for ensuring the long-term financial viability of the Company.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a repu­table institution.
  • Full managerial qualification or completion of a recognized management development or leader ship programme with evidence of commitment to continuing development / updating of manage­ment and leadership skills.
  • A minimum of twenty (20) years’ cognate experience of which at least five (5) years must be at executive management level within the Fast moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry.
  • Strong business acumen i.e. financial and com­mercial knowledge, as well as experience within the Nigerian food manufacturing sector.
  • In-depth understating of trends, challenges, op­portunities, regulations and legislations relating to the flour sector.
  • Results oriented and quality focused disposition
  • Strong and proven strategic orientation, leader­ship and mentoring skills.

Position: Executive Director (Operations) – ED – FL002

 

Reporting to the Managing Director/ Chief Execu­tive Officer, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the operations of the Company’s five (5) plants across the country. An intrin­sic part of this will be to drive operational efficiency and productivity within the plants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion the development and implementa­tion of the Company’s operations and production strategy and objectives, ensuring alignment with the corporate strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Provide overall guidance and direction in the execution of the production and maintenance plans of the flour business across all locations.
  • Formulate, develop and implement policies and ion plans to ensure optimal capacity utilization and attain the production targets of the Company.
  • Embed world class manufacturing and perfor­mance excellence into the operations of the plants.
  • Oversee the research, design and development of the new products, production processes and technology, for the company.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional qualification(s) will be an advantage.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ cognate experi­ence of which at least five (5) years must be at senior management level.
  • In-depth understanding of the operations of a flour mill.
  • Very good understanding of various types of technical problems in order to decide appropriate actions in the following domains: Operations and Maintenance Management Systems (SAP experi­ence is helpful), Process Management, Product Quality. Quality/ Environmental Management Project Management and Logistics Management
  • Proven experience within the local food manufac­turing industry will be an added advantage.
  • Strong strategic orientation, leadership and inter­personal skills.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Position: Head (Logistics) (HL – FL903)

 

Reporting to the Executive Director, Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for man­aging and coordinating the smooth running of the logistics function by ensuring cost-efficient and ef­fective movement and storage of input materials in order to ensure consistent availability of raw materi­als at all the Company’s plants in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion the development and articulation of the logistics function’s strategy, policies and processes and ensure alignment with the corporate strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the planning for and coordination of the transportation of input materials in order to ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop and inclement strategy and tactics for improving operational efficiencies for the transportation of input materials, while improving service level and reducing cost.
  • Ensure effective relationship management with third party service providers within the supply chain (such as transporters, etc), and monitor compliance with agreed service levels.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in relevant discipline from a reputable higher institution.
  • Professional qualification in transport logistics operations/management, supply chain management, and/ or other related field is an advantage
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience, with at least four (4) years experience in a senior management position. Cognate experience within the Nigeria food manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations and legislations relating to flour sector.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the input material (e.g. wheat) required in the production of flour.
  • Strong understanding of the logistics and distribution network for manufactured products and inputs in Nigeria.
  • Working knowledge of transportation logistics HSE policies.
  • Strong leadership, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Good networking skills, particularly relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
