Marine Operations Specialist at an Upstream Nigerian Oil industry

We are a Service company operating in the Upstream Nigerian Oil industry. One of our major operating   clients   requires   the   services of a personnel with the highest standards of integrity to join its Marine Operations team.

 

Position: Marine Operations Specialist

 

The Role:

  • Marine Operations Specialist reports to the Operations Supervisor is the first and primary contact for visiting export tankers as well as other ships coming  to the production field.
  • The incumbent of this position will be primarily engaged in the import of crude and fuel gas  from the platform, loading  of crude oil from the  tanks  to the export tanker, and  oversight of the deck operations.
  • He will be required to provide  vacation relief for operations supervisor and control Room Operators.

 

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving and recording of daily cargo inventory, monitor stability and ship stress and take corrective measures to ensure that they remain within permissible range
  • Developing & executing crude import and export plans
  • Assisting with preparation of export shipping documents when required
  • Operating Inert Gas and Cargo Pump equipment
  • Measuring Site Contact, responsible for operation & monitoring of export metering system
  • Assisting with the preparation of cargo tanks for inspection, repairs and maintenance
  • Providing support for maintenance activities, including development and implementations of isolation plans
  • Assisting with surveillance and maintenance of safety appliances for regulatory compliance and response readiness
  • Traffic monitoring within the Terminal Exclusion Zone using Radar/
  • ARPA and executing Radar Safety Plans
  • Coordinating/assisting with receiving fuels, materials, and marine logistics
  • Providing supervision of deck crew, support vessel activities, and coordination of marine logistics
  • Serving as Port Facility Security Officer.
  • First Aid Provider

 

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a background in marine operations and be able to work to deliver results with minimum supervision, within a diverse team.

 

In addition, candidates must possess:

  • HND with a minimum of Upper Credit in Nautical Science and Class 1 Deck Officer [Unlimited] qualification
  • A minimum of 3 year experience in tanker or FPSO/FSO operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

 

Experience, skill or certification in any of the following will be an added advantage

  • Tanker and Dangerous Liquid Cargo Safety Operations
  • General Seamanship Skills
  • Crude Oil Washing/Tank Cleaning operations
  • Stability and Ballast Control – use of Cargo Loading computer
  • GMDSS Operator Certificate
  • STCW Certification including Basic Water Survival, Fire Fighting, and First Aid
  • Port Facility Security Officer or Ship Security Officer certification.
