IITA is an international non-profit research-for-development (R4D) organization created in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and supported primarily by the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). Our R4D is anchored on the development needs of sub-Saharan Africa. We develop agricultural solutions with our partners to tackle hunger and poverty by reducing producer and consumer risks, enhancing crop quality and productivity, and generating wealth from agriculture. We have more than 100 internationally recruited scientists from about 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based in various stations across Africa.

 

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the following positions at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan.

 

Position: Machinist II

(2-years renewable Contract)

 

Duties:

Candidate will:

  • Fabricate tractor and auto parts
  • Operate all production machines in fabrication Unit
  • Operate and service lathe machine, milling machine, etc.
  • Carry out welding when needed; and
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

 

Qualification:

  • WASC/Trade Test I with minimum of 4 years similar working experience

 

Candidate must be:

  • Honest and hardworking,
  • Physically and mentally fit.
  • Able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

 

 

Position: Painter II

(2-year renewable Contract)

 

Duties:

Candidate will:

  • Prepare, prime and paint building walls;
  • Tape, flush, repair and apply finishing skills
  • Operate, clean and maintain all painting equipment.
  • Handle sign-writing works
  • Perform any other similar jobs as may be assigned.

 

Qualification:

  • National Diploma (ND) or WASC/Trade Test I
  • Plus 3 years similar working experience.

 

Candidate must be:

  • A very good team player
  • Honest and hardworking
  • Able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

 

 

 

Position: Carpenter I

(2-year renewable Contract)

 

Duties:

Candidate will:

  • Make and maintain furniture.
  • Apply varnish.
  • Polish woods.
  • Assist in roof and handle building interior decoration.
  • Carry out any other jobs as may be assigned by the Foreman, Carpentry Workshop.

 

Qualification:

  • WASC/Trade Test I- in carpentry works
  • Plus at least 3 years working experience in a structured carpentry workshop.

 

Successful candidate must be:

  • A very good team player
  • Honest and hardworking.
  • Able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
