Action Against Hunger (ACF) USA is part of the ACF-International Network which works to save lives by combating hunger and diseases that threaten vulnerable communities, through nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy.

 

Action Against Hunger is seeking qualified candidates for posts based in Jigawa and one in Abuja, details of which are below:

 

ACF is seeking to fill three key vacancies for the inception phase of the upcoming Child Development Grant Program. These vacancies will be implementing the Child Development Grant Programme (CDGP) funded by the UK Department for International Development (DfID), a joint project being implemented by Save the Children and Action Against Hunger (ACF). From 2013-2017, CDGP will provide 60,000 pregnant women and mothers with children under two with unconditional

cash transfers and behaviour change training.

 

 

Position: Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Manager

 

(Food Security and Livelihoods Programs)

 

Purpose: Support the FSL Coordinator in implementing CDGP and manage field teams. Ensure FSL technical activities are implement tracked and reported in a timely manner. Assist in recruiting, training and building capacity of FSL staff. Support coordination team in designing and executing FSL strategy.

 

Essential skill requirements related:

  • Professional, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible flexible and, culturally sensitive. Excellent teamwork and communication competencies.
  • Experience implementing programming on behalf of donor (i.e. USAID, ECHO, DFID, CIDA funded activities
  • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited. Computer literacy and high functionality with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Fluency in Hausa and English. Commitment to ACF values and charter Principles of independence, Neutrality, Non-Discrimination, Free and Direct Access to Victims, Professionalism, and Transparency.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • In addition requirements: Bachelor’s level degree in Program Management or a related field.
  • Excellent budget and project management and representation competencies.
  • Management level experience implementing donor funded program activities.
  • Five years relevant work experience. High level computer literacy.
  • Previous experience with food security and livelihoods programming, specifically cash based interventions (i.e. cash for work, cash transfers or cash vouchers) strongly preferred.

 

 

Position: Program Quality and Accountability (PQA) Officer, CDGP Program

 

Purpose:

Assist in the PQA system design. Establish and implement an integrated PQA system into the CDGP to ensure compliance with donor objectives and methodology. Ensure proper and timely implementation of PQA tools and monitoring and evaluation reporting. Document best practices related to planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

  • Experience implementing programming on behalf of donor (i.e. USAID, ECHO, DFID, CIDA funded activities

Qualifications & Skills:

  • In addition requirements: Degree or higher diploma in Program Management, Statistics or related area.
  • Minimum of two years experience working with donor funded programming.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office programming (Access, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, and Word), Experience in humanitarian PQA or M & E. Experience in designing and leading internal and external evaluation.
  • Familiarity with Management Information Systems (Databases) and GIS.
  • Excellent communication, writing and analytical skills, Experience designing and leading capacity building and training for national teams.
  • Previous experience with food security and livelihoods programming, specifically cash based strongly preferred.

 

Note:

 

Preferred but not Essential:

Previous experience living and working in an integrated setting in Northern Nigerian communities Understanding of local languages of Fulani and Kanuri.
