Job Title: Workshop Operations Engineer

 

Pool Skill: Auto – Electro – Mechanic

 

Department: Fleet Management Department

 

The successful candidate will report to the Workshop Manager and be responsible for 6 foremen, 50 technicians.

This office forms the heart of the operations of the workshop and the incumbent actualises the plans of the Workshop Manager and targets of the Contract Engineers.

  1. Have a thorough understanding of all electromechanical control systems of the vehicles
  2. Ability to use all testing and measuring equipment and tools required to maintain or repair electromechanical systems and controls of MB Actros, Atego, Iveco and MAN diesel trucks.
  3. Experience with troubleshooting and repairing MB Actros, Artego, Iveco and MAN Diesel truck using diagnostic machines,
  4. Ability to use all shop tools
  5. Solid background in project management and maintenance and Integrity management.
  6. Safety oriented and Team worker with good interpersonal skills and great deal of initiative.
  7. Proficient in Planning & scheduling tools: Ms Project Excel Document Management
  8. Experienced in Project Control, Progress reporting and forecasting.
  9. Consistent in the achievement of set objectives using engineering best practice and coordination skills.
  10. Familiar with ERP applications such as Micro-soft Dynamics.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1.       In conjunction with Workshop Manager, support the five Contract Engineers execute satisfactorily and on time, their weekly, monthly and yearly plans for the management of trucks in their fleets by:

1.1     Assigning raising job cards and daily tasks to the contract foreman, based on planned maintenance scheduled and Post Trip inspection Reports/Diagnosis.

1.2     Raising Store Request Vouchers or requesting for Procurement Request Notes.

1.3     Scheduling people, resources and time for each assignment

1.4     Ensuring on-time and satisfactory completion of jobs

1.5     Closing a job card by assuring the quality of work done by technicians before a truck to Quality Control check.

1.6     Ensuring the procedures are followed by each technician in the execution of their job, as specified in the Workshop Standard Operation Procedures, including those of HSSEQ in the workshop.

1.7     Scheduling and ensuring satisfactory and on time execution of preventive maintenance and repairs of vehicles in his fleet.

 

  1. Troubleshoot, test, and repair electronic components of TSL vehicles and perform electrical and mechanical repairs as required to maintain all trucks under his responsibility.
  2. Notify Workshop manager assist in the solution of the problems
  3. Contribute ideas for improvements in all areas using the appropriate means of communication
  4. Maintain a neat and orderly workplace.

 

Education and Experience:

1.       B.Sc (hons) / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

2.       Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience working was an Auto-electromecahnic engineer/technician in a supervisory capacity
