Vacancies: BCC Advisor, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Large International non-profit seeks qualified candidates for $80 million USAID-funded Nigeria Malaria Action Program for States (MAPS) Project designed to support the Nigeria National Malaria Strategic Plan and National Malaria Control Program (NMCP). MAPS works in several states to increase the quality, access, and uptake of specific malaria control interventions, including lTNs, ACTs, RDTs, and IPTp to pregnant women. Positions are now open in the Country Office Abuja, and in Zamfara and Kogi Offices, MAPS is seeking to fill the following positions:
Position: BCC Advisor (Abuja)
Job Functions
- Assist the NMCR and; working with the project BCC and Community Mobilization Officers at the State level in project focus states, collaborate with and build capacity of State Ministries of Health and private-sector counterparts to identify: develop, implement and monitor an array of BCC approaches to changing and maintaining behaviors in the area of malaria prevention and treatment.
- As an integral team member, the BCC Advisor will foster individual and community mobilization through both proven and innovative implementation of key campaign messages, including proper and consistent LLIN use and maintenance; comprehension and use of ACTs; and increased use of ANC services.
- The BCC Advisor will develop and disseminate IEC messages to improve mothers’ awareness of the risk of malaria during pregnancy and promote the use of IPTp during various phases of pregnancy.
- S/He will conduct IEC/8CC activities at the health facility and community level to ensure maximum local impact and education.
- Collaborate closely with the M£E Advisor to ensure the documentation of BCC effects on target audiences by designing all messages to track specific, measurable behaviors.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least 10 years substantial expertise in strategic behavior change communications and community mobilization,
- Experience in providing technical leadership and expertise for the development and coordination of BCC materials and response to Health related interventions in Nigeria
- Bachelors Degree/Masters in Communication and Media Arts.
Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (MOE) – Zamfara
Job functions
- Provide technical support to health facilities to ensure that data are accurately captured, analyzed on monthly basis, used for decision making and reported to the LGA according to set guidelines. Also support the LGA and State Malaria Control Programme (SMCP) in ensuring that data from health facilities are accurately collated and reported according to set guidelines,
- Facilitate training and supportive supervision of data officers in the states and LGAs on the use of the data collection tools, data quality assurance and the DHIS and provide technical support and mentoring in the use and trouble shooting of DH1S at the LGAs (as applicable) and SMCP.
- Conduct quarterly data quality assurance (DQA) in selected health facilities in collaboration with the LGA focal persons and SMCP officer while supporting data management during LLIN campaigns and providing technical assistant on IHN data tracking and reporting system.
- Actively participate in the state monthly M&E meeting and ensure meeting objectives are met,
- Participate in operational research and scientific documentation as applicable in the state under the guidance of the country office team.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in any of the Social sciences; a postgraduate degree in Public Health. Epidemiology, Statistics, or Demography is preferred.
- Three years relevant working experience in M&E and application of DHIS for data management is required.
- Knowledge of statistical software preferred.
- Knowledge of USAID monitoring and evaluation application.
