Vacancies: Farm Manager, Farm Accountant

Aqua Harvest Ltd. (“AH”) is a startup aquaculture project with annual production capacity of 1,000 tons of Catfish (African Clarias, Heteroclarias and Claresse). Standing on approximately 4 acres of land area in Eredo Local

Government Area of Lagos, AH is equipped with state of the art flow through system, a staff canteen and staff residential apartment amongst other facilities. AH seeks to fill the following positions:

Position: Farm Manager (TIT) AHFM 001

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Farm Manger will oversee the propagation business of the farm.

The FM’s role includes:

  • Develop the Farm’s production schedule and co-ordinate the feeding regime to ensure production and growth efficiency, respectively;
  • Maintain records of stock and provide updates on fish health and nutrition;
  • Supervise day to day rearing of Catfish, from seeds until cropping; supervise and guide the Feeders and other production Technicians in the farm;
  • Establish risk management/disaster control processes for all aspects of the Farm, review water management techniques, establish disease and mortality control procedures;
  • Ensure that operations are complaint with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Adapt the Farm’s operations to new, more efficient technologies as they develop

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree (Minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Fisheries, Fisheries Management, Aquaculture Science or any other related sciences from a recognized institution;
  • Minimum of two years experience in similar position in a decently sized fish farm;
  • Knowledge of rearing high breed Catfish species (Heteroclarias & Claresse) will be highly valued;
  • Experience in rearing other aquaculture species will be an added advantage;
  • Commitment dedication and ability to work long hours without complaint;
  • Ability to mentor subordinates and to use various farm computer applications

Position: Farm Accountant (‘FA’) AHFA 002

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Farm Accountant will be responsible for the accounting and record keeping of all monetary transactions of the farm.

The FA’s main role includes:

  • Provide accurate, timely and complete monthly farm accounting records, including depreciation, payroll, sales, cost accounting, balance sheets, and full-service accounts;
  • Input and tog farm accounting data, reports, and other necessary information to the farm accounting system;
  • Establish new customers on farm accounting; dose out year-end accounts; calculate and process farm accounting invoices;
  • Review, balance, key in and print monthly farm accounting reports; close out year-end accounts; Assemble, review, and mail processed farm accounting reports to users;
  • Request, obtain, input, and reconcile financial information from other non-farm accounting customers for financial service purposes;
  • Provide update on farm accounting delinquencies;
  • Develop a proper internal control process for cash receipt, deposit and management;

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree (Minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Accounting or a related business field with five or more years of related experience;
  • Professional Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA) will be an added advantage;
  • Agriculture environment experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, sales, analytical, time management and organizational skills as well as the ability to use various computer applications (Quick books);
  • Must be able to confidently and succinctly communicate “value added” business and financial concepts to investors and Management
