Operations Officer – Lighting Africa at IFC

The Lighting Africa Program is a major component of our Clean Energy Programs run by IFC’s Sustainable Business Advisory Business Line. The Program catalyzes and accelerates development of sustainable markets for affordable, modern off-grid lighting solutions for low-income households and micro-enterprises across the continent. Working with private sector and public stakeholders, the Program’s objective is to build a market for reliable off-grid lighting products; it sets quality standards/frameworks, provides companies with business development support, market insights, and undertakes consumer education and awareness activities.

 

Position: Operations Officer – Lighting Africa

 

The Operations Officer will be in charge of leading the Program in Nigeria, from the design of specific market support services to managing its implementation with clients at the company, sector and policy level.

 

Requirements:

  • Masters level education in business, engineering, finance, economics, or related field.
  • 8+ years of commercial marketing and business development experience with a specific focus on rural markets, social marketing and SMEs, as well as experience interfacing with the supply chain and end consumers.
  • Successful experience managing complex relationships, resolving differences, and achieving successful outcomes among multiple and diverse sets of stakeholders and market segments.
  • Deep knowledge of the Nigerian market is essential, as is expertise in launching new products; candidates having experience with clean energy technologies and markets have a competitive advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to operate successfully in a high pressure, fast-paced, and multicultural environment.
