Vacancies: Project Accountant, Project Internal Auditor
Imo State Government is now revalidating to establish the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) that would be responsible for implementing a World Bank Assisted Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP II). The main objective of RAMP II is to institionalize sustainable rehabilitation and maintenance of rural roads and other rural transport infrastructure in the State. It is expected that the implementation of the Rural Travel and Transport Programme will empower the Local Government Communities to participate in the management and provision of rural transport and services.
Imo State Government therefore requires the services of qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions in the SPIU responsible for RAMP in the State:

Position: Project Accountant
Qualification and Experience
- Minimum of HND, B.Sc or BA in Accounting, Banking and Finance Administration or Economics. Possession of post graduate degree in relevant discipline and any of the following professional qualification: ICAN,’ ICMA, ACCA, ANAN or any other professional qualification will be an advantage.
- Applicants a minimum of 8 years post qualification experience in financial management of externally assisted projects
- At least three (3) of which must have been acquired after obtaining professional qualification. Excellent ability to handle financial software, ability to produce and interpret financial reports arid good understanding of financial procedures under externally assisted projects. Experience in a World Bank funded project with relevant training in World ‘Bank financial guidelines and procedures with experience in current financial management procedures will be an added advantage.
Responsibilities
Ensure that ail procurement and financial disbursements are in line with World Bank and State Government financial regulations. Ensure that all payment vouchers are audited before disbursement. Auditing all financial stores, plants, motor vehicles as well as administrative records of the projects Ensure the verification of project assets. Design an internal control system and manual needed for the smooth running of the project. To put in place a control mechanism to curtail wasteful spending submitted monthly and special reports on auditing activities. Submit annual reports on outlining achievements and challenges pertaining to Internal Audit functions: Identify and facilitate training for Internal Auditors of the entire RAMP. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Project Coordinator.
