Vacancies: Communication Officer, Program Officer (Monitoring & Evaluation)

AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN) is a non-governmental donor-funded organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, care and support of diseases of public health importance in Nigeria, including HIV/AIDS. tuberculosis and malaria, among others. Since 2001, we have closely with key stakeholders to reduce the burden and mitigate the impact of those diseases through cutting edge, innovative & sustainable approaches

We are seeking qualified and suitable candidates to assume the following positions:

Position: Communication Officer (Abuja)

The job holder will have responsibility for projecting the image of the organization and implemented projects as well as manage of APIN’s website; e-bulletin and online learning community, ensuring that activities delivered are on schedule and to budget standards.

Job Tasks

  • Prepare, edit and publish contents for the APIN website, ensuring that contents and updates meet acceptable editorial standards
  • Work with relevant Programs teams/departments to identify, highlight and publish APIN and donor success stories, lessons learnt and best practices
  • Work with the media to create publicity and visibility for APIN-implemented donor projects at respective locations across the country
  • Manage APIN’s public relations, interfacing with media houses and their representatives to ensure appropriate, timely and accurate reporting and publicity of APIN activities
  • Contribute to the development of relevant IEC materials and relevant tools
  • Drive the timely preparation and publication of the APIN quarterly newsletter, with a view to informing APIN stakeholders and other publics on the strides being made by APIN in the implementation of HIV/AIDS care, treatment and Tuberculosis management.
  • Advise Management on how to improve and better promote the publicity and visibility of APIN-implemented programs and projects

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or any other relevant degree (a Master’s degree in Communication Arts will be added advantage) and at least seven (7) years’ work experience in a similar position, preferably with a non-governmental organization on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria or any other donor funded program, preferably with significant background in program management

Technical and Behavioural Competencies

  • Nose for details
  • Repot t writing skill
    • Editing skill
    • Self-drive and ability to work without very minimal supervision
    • Ability to use own initiative
    • Publishing and website management skills are desirable
    • Computer literacy/skills in usage of personal productivity tools (Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint
    • Internet browsing, emailing. etc.)

 

Position: Program Officer – Monitoring & Evaluation (Jos)

  • The job holder will be a member of the State Team and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of monitoring & evaluation (M&E) as well as quality assurance (QA) systems in collaboration with the SI Team

Job Tasks

  • Assist in setting up M&E and QA systems at the program sites in the state
  • Provide technical assistance to program sites in the collection, analysis, reporting and use of output data for programme improvement
  • Collate monthly reports and provide feedbacks on the consistency of data with program design in collaboration with the state team
  • Share program output data with the state team and relevant government agencies through the state office head
  • Facilitate periodic and donor initiated data quality audits (DQAs) at APIN-supported health facilities and Civil Society Organizations
  • Monitor the progress of the program towards achieving targets in the states
  • Work in collaboration with the State Team to follow up on monitoring & evaluation committees at the program sites to ensure the promotion of data utilization by relevant end users
  • Provide technical support to site quality improvement committees to set up and implement internal quality management in collaboration with the State Team
  • Facilitate the provision of technical support to strengthen M&E and QA systems at the state level
  • Contribute to the development and review of appropriate data collection tools and procedures for all monitoring and reporting needs
  • Contribute to the periodic review of the organization’s quality improvement protocol in line with the national
  • Conduct periodic visits to program sites, travelling up to 25% of the time

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • An MBBS and a minimum of eight (8) years’ work experience, including at least four (4) years supporting the implementation of M&E systems as well as planning and executing program evaluation; an MPH will be an advantage

 

Technical and Behavioural Competencies

  • Working knowledge of program monitoring & evaluation as well as programme management
  • Good analytical skills as well as knowledge of statistics and statistical methods
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, including current HIV/AIDS guidelines and standards with respect to monitoring & evaluation
  • Ability to organize and coordinate training programmes
  • Report writing and oral/written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skill
