Program Assistant at AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN)

AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN) is a non-governmental donor-funded organization involved in the prevention, treatment, care and support of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria. Since 2001, we have worked closely with key stakeholders including government agencies, universities, other non-governmental organizations and donors to fight the HIV scourge. APIN’s goal is not just to reduce the rate of growth of HIV epidemic in Nigeria, but also to ultimately reverse its course. Our prevention, treatment, care and support activities span forty-two sites in ten states of the Federation and are coordinated from our offices in Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan.

In order to strengthen our Strategic Information (SI) unit for its newly enlarged role, we seek qualified and competent candidates to assume the position at our Abuja office:

Position: Program Assistant (Abuja)

Reporting to the Program Associate, the job holder will have the responsibility of providing support in the collection and collation of reports from the program sites as well as keeping of relevant records

Job Tasks

  • Maintain and update summary reports for service output for Harvard and APIN implementing sites and effect monthly uploads on the internet.
  • Maintain and update summary reports for training output for Harvard and APIN implementing sites and effect monthly uploads on the internet.
  • Provide support to the Program Associate in carrying out quality audits of training and service reports on a monthly basis
  • Track the implementation of sites reports on the GON Logistics Health Program Management Platform and provide feedback to the program Associate
  • Makes necessary logistics arrangements for Strategic Information-related training programs, including sending out letter/mails to participants
  • Organize and maintain schedules of all meetings and trainings involving the strategic information unit in collaboration with the Program Associate

Minimum Qualification & Experience

  • A first degree in the Sciences or Social Sciences, with at least one year experience in data collection, entry and analysis

Required Competencies

  • Numeracy
  • Demonstrable skills in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook are essential. Skills in file maker Pro 10 is desirable
  • Report writing and oral/written communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment
  • Ability to organize and coordinate training programmes
