The Government of Jigawa State has established a University known as Jigawa State University at Kafin Hausa, Jigawa State.

 

The University has gained the recognition of the National Universities Commission (NUC) as the 39th State University and 129th University in the Nigerian University System.

 

It is a conventional University that will offer courses and conduct research in various areas of the Sciences, Education, Humanities and Management. Academic activities will commence in the 2013/2014 academic session. The University is seeking intelligent and patriotic Nigerians and non-Nigerians of high academic and professional standing with impeccable character to be employed as pioneer staff to translate into reality the vision of the Jigawa State Government, of creating a top class University that provides stimulating teaching, learning and research environment in pursuit of solutions to societal problems.

FACULTY OF HUMANITIES

 

DEPARTMENT OF ISLAMIC STUDIES

 

Position: Professor

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Candidates seeking appointment as Professor must possess a Ph.D degree in the relevant field and must have a minimum of 15 years’ teaching and research experience and must show evidence of contributions to knowledge in the form of several groundbreaking publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals and books published by reputable publishers.
  • Candidates must also show evidence of academic leadership in the form of successfully supervised postgraduates’ theses, and some administrative experience.
  • Candidates who already hold chairs of other Nigerian Universities will have an advantage.

 

Position: Reader

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Candidates seeking appointment as Reader must possess a Ph.D degree in the relevant field and must have a minimum of 12 years’ teaching and research experience and evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and books published by reputable publishers.
  • Candidates must also show evidence of having published several articles in national or international peer—reviewed journals.

 

Position: Senior   Lecturer

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Candidates seeking appointment as Senior Lecturer must possess a Ph.D degree in the relevant field and must have a minimum of 8 years’ teaching and research experience.
  • Candidates must also show evidence of having published several articles in national or international peer—reviewed journals.

 

Position: Lecturer I

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Candidates seeking appointment as Lecturer I must possess Ph.D degree in the relevant field or show evidence of having made substantial progress towards completing their doctorial theses in addition to having a minimum of five years’ teaching and research experience and some scholarly publications.

 

Position: Lecturer II

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Candidates seeking appointment as Lecturer II must possess M.A, M.Sc degree or excellent or very good first degree in the relevant field in addition to having a minimum of two years’ teaching experience. Candidates who possess a Ph.D degree are eligible for appointment to a Lectureship without any previous teaching experience.

 

Position: Assistant Lecturer

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Candidates seeking appointment as Assistant Lecturer must possess a good Master’s degree or excellent or a very good first degree in the relevant field. No previous teaching experience is required.

 

Position: Graduate Assistant

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Candidates seeking appointment as Graduate Assistant must possess a very good or excellent first degree in the relevant field. No previous teaching experience is required.

 

Academic Staff Salaries:

The salaries and other conditions of service are similar to what obtains in other Universities in Nigeria.
