The United Nations Habitat Programme Support Office Nigeria (UN-HAPSO) was established by the federal Government of Nigeria, in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) and became operational in October 2003. The Office has been established to promote cooperation with Nigeria towards achieving the goals of the Habitat Agenda of  Sustainable Urbanisation and Adequate Shelter for All. It also assists Nigeria to work towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The Office,which is part of the Regional Office for Africa (ROAf) of the UN-HABITAT falls under the direct supervision of the Senior Human Settlements Adviser (SHSA) of ROAf and is headed by the Habitat Programme Manager (HPM).

The Office seeks bright and energetic national candidates for the post below

 

Position: Habitat Programme Manager (HPM)

 

The duty station for the post is Abuja. Nigeria.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to, among others provide management leadership and be responsible for the day-to-day running of the office; represent UN-HABITAT in Nigeria and in the African sub-region as assigned from Headquarters, on missions and in international, regional and national workshops and conferences; Provide policy advise to all levels of government and other partners for the advancement of the human settlements sector; and Assist with the identification of programmes/projects related to the urban sector, good urban governance and urban management, shelter, slum upgrading, rural-urban linkage and local economic development.
