Vacancies: Senior Technologist, Technologist I/Technologist II

 The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is a higher education institution engaged in imparting knowledge, skills and learning to students using specialized facilities and a multi-disciplinary approach. It is a centre of excellence for serious innovative research and   development   for the aerospace,   aeronautical,   aviation   and allied industries/disciplines.

One of the key components of AFIT’s approach to excellence is the employment of highly skilled and motivated staff to deliver first class education to its students. In this regard, applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill a number of vacancies at the Institute for both teaching and non-teaching staff.

 Academic Programme

Candidates seeking employment at AFIT should possess appropriate skill levels in aerospace/aeronautical engineering, electrical/electronic   engineering communication engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and Non Destructive Testing. The qualifications must be in disciplines consistent with the programmes undertaken at the Institute and possession of an aircraft maintenance engineers’ license will be an added advantage. The qualifications and requirements for the various vacant positions are detailed below:

 

Position: Senior Technologist (CONPCASS09 Nl.528.080 2.233.524 PA).

 Qualifications

  • Minimum of higher degree such as M.Sc or its equivalent.
  • Not less than 5 years cognate working experience.
  • Membership of an appropriate body such as the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology or the Institute of Science and Technology.

 

Position: Technologist I/Technologist II (CONPCASS 08/07 N1, 319,880/   N1.962.672/ N1, 741.464PA).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of higher degree such as B.sc, HND or its equivalent.
  • Candidates for the post of Technologist II must not have less than 2 years cognate working experience.
  • Membership of an appropriate body such as the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology or the Institute of Science and Technology.

 

Important Notice

It is imperative for interested candidates to adhere to the following points:

  • All candidates must possess NYSC Discharge Certificate, Exemption Certificate or Certificate of Exclusion where applicable.
  • Salaries, allowances and other conditions of service attached to the various positions are the same as approved for federal universities and polytechnics in Nigeria.
  • Candidates who are awaiting results may not be considered and need not apply
  • Computer literacy is required for all advertised positions

 

Method of Application:

Candidates should forward eight (8) copies of the following documents:

  • Word-Processed applications;
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae; and
  • Copies of credentials to the Registrar of the Institute by post or hand delivery.

The Curriculum Vitae should, among other information include the following, in this order:

  • Position applied for
  • Full name (surname first in capital letters);
  • Place and date of birth;
  • Nationality;
  • State of origin & local government area;
  • Religion;
  • Permanent home address;
  • Present postal address/telephone number(s)/e-mail address;
  • Marital status;
  • Number and ages of children (if any);
  • Educational institutions attended with dates;
  • Academic qualifications obtained with dates;
  • Professional qualifications obtained with dates;
  • Working experience including full details of former and present post(s), and pay grade levels history;
  • Full details of teaching and research experience and service to the nation and immediate community where applicable;
  • List of publications where applicable;
  • Honours/distinctions;
  • Extracurricular activities;
  • Names and addresses of 3 referees.

 

Candidates’ submissions should be forwarded in an envelope which should have the position applied for clearly indicated on its left-hand corner.

Candidates should also request their 3 referees to send reports on them, under confidential cover, direct to the Registrar of the Air Force Institute of Technology. The referees should also be informed to indicate the names of their candidates and the positions and departments applied for.
