Brief on the Hospital

Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital is a 500-bed hospital, located along Zaria Road Kano. Belonging to the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and run under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Health. It is a centre of excellence in nephrology, endoscopic surgery and Radiodiagnosis. A strong Institute of Infectious Diseases and Immunology is in the pipeline that will serve the North Western and some North Central states.

To provide a fully functional 500 bed Teaching Hospital equipped with state of the art facilities and highly qualified and specialized staff, for rendering services, research and training to cater for the needs of the community”.

To provide excellent service using professional knowledge and appropriate technology through, a dedicated and team-oriented workforce that is fully committed to utilizing the available resources judiciously, effectively and efficiently in an environment that treats patients with utmost respect and competent professional care. Whilst encouraging community participation and contribution to is development.

 

The Chief Medical Director is the Chief Executive officer of the hospital, and candidates aspiring for the post shall be medical practitioner of not less than 15 years cognate experience in clinical practice, as provided in CAP 463, under which statutes the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital was established. Considerable experience in the management and administration of a tertiary health institution will be of tremendous advantage, as would service in a university setting. He /she must have a postgraduate specialist qualification duly registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, which must not be less than five years as at the date of applying for appointment as Chief Medical Director.

Terms and Conditions of Service Applicable to the Post:

The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Chief Medical Director in Nigerian Tertiary Health Institutions and as may from time to time be determined by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
