IITA is an international non-profit research for development (R4D) organization created in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and supported primarily by the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Our R4D is anchored on the development needs of sub- Saharan Africa. We develop agricultural solutions with our partners to eliminate hunger and poverty by reducing producer and consumer risks, enhancing crop quality and productivity, and generating wealth from agriculture. We have more than 100 internationally recruited scientists from about 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based in various stations across Africa.

 

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the following positions at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan.

 

Position: WTP Equipment Operator

 

Duties:

Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

  • Carry out operation and maintenance work at water treatment plant, swimming pool plant, Sewage treatment plant. Dam Pumping stations.
  • Clean water treatment plant, swimming pool, sewage plant, pump stations and its surroundings.
  • Dose treating chemicals for processing of water.
  • Repair faulty equipment and plants.
  • Take hourly reading and record it in operating production sheet.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor

 

Qualification and Experience

OND/Trade Test in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus (5) years relevant post-qualification working experience.

 

The candidate must

  • Must have a very good knowledge of general repairs, fittings and plumbing
  • Must have a very good knowledge of water treatment
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Be honest and hardworking.
  • Be a good team player and be able to follow instructions.
  • Be able to work under pressure, shift and overtime

 

 

Position: Program Administrative Officer (Humidtropics)

 

(2-year renewable Contract)

 

Duties:

Successful candidate will:

  • Provide overall administrative, management and operational support to the Humidtopics Executive Office.
  • Assist with Management (Inventory, local and international Purchasing and Asset Disposal).
  • Administratively backstop the administration of the Humidtropics locations.
  • Assist with streamlining general administrative policies and procedures to comply with Humidtropics and IITA institute policies and local laws and norms.
  • Reviewing and monitoring of the allocated budget to the Executive Office and Partners.
  • Assisting Executive Office with finance and budget management across Humidtropic location.
  • Assist and advising the Partner Representatives and scientist in all administrative and management matters.
  • Perform any other activities as may be assigned by the Executive Office managers.

 

Qualification and Experience

  • B.Sc Business Administration, Project Management and other related fields.
  • Minimum of five, (b) years’ experience in Project Management.

 

Experience working in agriculture research organization and good knowledge of French language will be an added advantage.

 

The ideal candidate must possess:

  • Good understanding of budgeting and financial management procedures.
  • Excellent computer skills with good grasp of spreadsheets word processing and other MS office applications, and ability to learn new applications quickly.
  • Excellent English reporting, writing and oral communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook Excel, Word and Power Point).
  • Strong ability to co-ordinate, prioritize and organize workload; take initiative and work under pressure
