Vacancies: State Project Coordinator, Infrastructure Engineer
Imo State Government is now revalidating to establish the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) that would be responsible for implementing a World Bank Assisted Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP II). The main objective of RAMP II is to institionalize sustainable rehabilitation and maintenance of rural roads and other rural transport infrastructure in the State. It is expected that the implementation of the Rural Travel and Transport Programme will empower the Local Government Communities to participate in the management and provision of rural transport and services.
Imo State Government therefore requires the services of qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions in the SPIU responsible for RAMP in the State:

Position: State Project Coordinator
Qualification and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and registered with COREN with at least 10 years relevant post –qualification experience in programme coordinating function including at least 5 years in coordinating World Bank/ African Development Bank or other externally assisted projects OR a Masters degree- in Civil Engineering or post graduate course in relevant discipline and 10 years of post qualification experience programme coordinating function including at least 3 years in coordinating World Bank/ African Development Bank or other externally assisted projects.
- The candidate must have a proven track record in rural transport infrastructure development especially in the field of rural travel and transport, particularly in rural roads development; the ability to communicate and write effectively and must be computer literate, conversant in the use of standard software applications. Relevant training in Rural Travel and Transport by the World Bank or external donor funded programme shall be an advantage.
Responsibilities
The State Project Coordinator shall be responsible for the overall coordination, planning, implementation of the project activities at. the State level as well a« manage the affairs of the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) as stipulated in the Project Implementation Manual (PIM).
Position: Infrastructure Engineer
Qualification and Experience
- A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, registered with COREN and with a minimum of 8 years varied experience in rural transport infrastructure maintenance and rehabilitation works with excellent ability to handle least cost design standards and specifications of various rural infrastructure particularly road works, and, the ability to produce and interpret engineering designs and reports; excellent understanding of procurement procedures under externally assisted projects.
- Ability to communicate and write effectively and must be computer literate and conversant in the use of standard software applications. Post graduate course or possession of a postgraduate degree in a cognate area and some positions at top management level in the public land/or private sector would foe an advantage.
Responsibilities
Responsible to the State Project Coordinator. The incumbent will assist the Coordinator in the co-ordination of the implementation of infrastructural project in the State arid ensure that the procurement procedures of all goods and services financed under the project as contained in the Procurement Manual approved the IDA are followed in all procurement activities of the project both for procurement activities for which the SPIU is responsible.
